The other week when I made the chicken souvlaki it reminded me of the Japanese version of skewered chicken, yakitori. It seems that many cultures and cuisines have a version of skewered grilled meat and one of my favorites is definitely yakitori. Yakitori is a Japanese skewered grilled chicken dish where the chicken is coated in a tare sauce that is pretty much a teriyaki sauce consisting of mirin, sake, soy sauce and sugar.
