Kohlrabi, according to Wikipedia, is a root in the cabbage family, and come June you can find it in most any farmer's market or CSA box. If you can't lay hands on a kohlrabi, you could certainly make this with cabbage. But I would encourage you to be on the lookout for this 'cabbage turnip.' The crisp, firm julliennes are really perfect in this slaw.
