French onion soup is one of my favourite indulgences. Savoury beefy broth with the addition of garlicky croutons or bread, and hot, melted gruyere cheese ... excuse me while I salivate! This is a great dish if you want to impress guests (especially with the cute little French onion soup bowls), or if you simply want to treat yourself to some classic comfort food.
