This recipe is from my mother's mother's family in Bermuda (The Smith's) I learned to make these brownies and could do so independently by the fourth grade (a fact I was very proud of!). My daughter made these for a school project in the 3rd grade. It is always fun looking at the recipe in the old Junior League of Bermuda cookbook because the page is stained with hardened chocolate from years of young people making their favorite brownie from scratch!
