<br />This is a recipe that my best friend and I used to make all the time during our “college days.” We served it with a nice green salad and some good slices of toasted French Bread topped with butter and a bit of crushed garlic. We never failed to impress our friends. This dish can be used as a main course, side dish, or even appetizer. You can also further impress your friends by serving the gratin on individual shell dishes instead of a baking pan (i.e., 9x13 or smaller baking dish). Last, I strongly recommend you bake it overnight, reheat and let sit for at least 15 minutes prior to serving.
