Simple pumpkin pie with homemade crust

It’s that time of year and I’m soooo excited! Why, you ask? Because everywhere you look, every store and bakery is stocked with one of my top 5 favorite desserts. I’m talking about Pumpkin Pie!! That’s right folks. This love runs deep and has been going strong ever since I was a kid. Way before the “pumpkin everything” craze. If I’m being completely truthful, I will eat almost any slice of pumpkin pie placed in front of me. However, I absolutely love making my own version! Maybe it’s the super silky and creamy filling or maybe it’s that I can tailor the spice blend to my own preference. I think it has more to do with the fact that I love homemade crust! It’s sooo delicious! If I’m not careful, those extra little leaves I bake may disappear before I get a change to decorate the top. Since the crust is my favorite part, let’s start with that, shall we?! Pie dough is finicky. There’s no way to sugar coat it.
