I knew that it was happening. We had picked the cabinets and appliances, the tile and the paint colors, the faucets and the light fixtures. We had cleared out all the cabinets and laid in a supply of frozen dinners, and I had the date circled on my calendar. But even with all that, there is nothing that could have prepared me for leaving for work one morning with an intact kitchen, and coming home that night to...nothing. Nothing but walls and floors and a few forlorn looking wires and a highly confused hound dog. And so away we go!
